Ogun APC chieftain backs Yayi’s governorship bid

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State and former Acting Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), Hon. Kayode Oladele, has expressed confidence that the party’s governorship candidate, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, will emerge as the next governor of Ogun State.

In a statement made available to journalists on Tuesday, Oladele described Yayi as the most popular, experienced, and widely accepted governorship candidate in the state.

He said the senator had continued to build momentum by attracting widespread support from party leaders, traditional rulers, professionals, women, youths, and other stakeholders across Ogun West, Ogun Central, and Ogun East senatorial districts.

According to him, Adeola’s growing acceptance across the state reflects his track record in public service, legislative experience, and commitment to inclusive governance and balanced development.

“His support base cuts across the three senatorial districts, and the momentum behind his aspiration continues to grow because the people believe in his capacity, competence, and vision for a greater Ogun State,” Oladele said.

He dismissed suggestions that the 2027 governorship election would be a straight contest between the APC and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), insisting that the PDP had lost its structure and political relevance in the state.

“The PDP is simply not in the race. It would be superfluous to compare the strength of the PDP with that of the APC. While the APC continues to grow stronger by the day, attracting prominent politicians and grassroots supporters from the PDP on a daily basis, the PDP is steadily losing its relevance and political footing across Ogun State,” he said.
