Senator Solomon Adeola YAYI Flags Off Second Farmers’ Empowerment Programme, Distributes Farm Equipment and Agricultural Inputs Across Ogun
The second edition of the YAYI Empowerment of Farmers and Donation of Farm Equipment and Inputs is currently underway at the Asade Agunloye Pavilion Ground, Ilaro-Yewa, where Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, CON, FCA (YAYI), has commenced the distribution of a wide range of agricultural equipment and inputs to farmers across Ogun State under the Renewed Hope Agriculture Initiatives for Food Security.
The empowerment programme is structured to ensure equitable distribution across the state’s three senatorial districts. Ogun West’s 75 farming clusters have been merged into 11 major clusters, Ogun East’s 29 clusters into four major clusters, while Ogun Central’s six clusters have been consolidated into one major cluster for effective coordination and distribution.
Items being distributed include 178 cargo tricycles, 80 water pumps, 17 power tillers, five solar-powered water pumps, 820 seed planters, 8,000 bags of fertilizer, 495 bags of maize seeds, 150 bags of rice seeds, 78 bags of hybrid maize seeds, 100 wheelbarrows, 100 sets each of cutlasses, hoes and shovels, 879 buckets, 80 bundles of mats, 42 cartons of pesticides, 195 cartons of toilet soap, 146 packs of detergent, 14 bundles of duvets, mosquito nets, as well as other essential farming materials. The allocation of tractors will be made at the discretion of the Governor.
The intervention is expected to significantly enhance agricultural productivity, improve farmers’ capacity, and reinforce ongoing efforts to achieve food sufficiency in Ogun State, while complementing the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and the agricultural development initiatives of Governor Dapo Abiodun, CON.
